…a very large audience today (standing room only), which I personally vetted using my patent pending “it’s bizarre, you may hate it, so on your head be it” patter, which worked, it weeded out the audience.
The show went really well, it’s a Saturday boozing crowd so what do you expect. The sketches each went well in their own particular way, I got big laughs, lots of applause but, again, the interaction between Moz and ShMOZle left then cold. I really gave my show some wellie today and interestingly in the scene where ShMOZle steals my voice I got a small “aagh” of sympathy for Moz, so I played on it, and performed the role as vulnerable, and thus started the trembling lip and tears, which got a bigger “aaaagggghh” from the audience. As much as my acting sucks, I’m really impressed with that scene today, that was worth four stars.
It’s amazing how the so-called clever stuff dies here, yet in Brighton ruled.
Looking forward writing the next show. I’m full of new ideas and having been put through the mill on this show I really can’t wait to prove myself. Today’s show got repeat business, a couple who came to see Bored Stiff, and I agree with them, Bored Stiff was s much better show. Why? Simplicity.
No feedback forms today, that I could see. It was too busy, but it would be nice to get some feedback.
As I write this I’m sitting in my usual place, at the back of espionage, drinking a pint. Nice.
