'The Wonderful World of Moz'
A good shMOZle day…

I sold the show as “a play within a sketch-show about a double-act both played by me, at the same time” which worked. I also sold it as “bizarre”, “original”, “different” and “comedy marmite” and that worked. Got about 20 people in (half full) and got lots of applause and laughter, which in turn made me bolder, more confident and I pulled off my best performance yet. Hoorah! In the end I didn’t use my comments slips. Maybe tomorrow.

Post-show analysis: Modern Man and Cultured Man scored well, Flight Attendant close behind, Happy Shopper got it’s best reaction yet but still an oddity, Street Performer is too slow/niche and the double-act sections were enjoyed but slowed down the energy of the show, even though they appreciated the cleverness. The Ventriloquist, again, failed at the start, I think because the audience see that the conceit is a sham (I don’t actually ventriloquist, it’s all voiceover) but when I reveal that I’m aware of the conceit, I scored big. They loved the “c**t” tirade.

Feeling much happier now, I really needed that. Which is not to say the show’s a triumph and I’m currently guzzling champagne, smoking Havanas and snorting coke of a hooker’s tits, that’s later, but I feel energised. Shallow as it sounds, we all want success, we all want to be noticed, we all want to be loved. That’s why we do it, isn’t it, deep down, yes an award would be nice, yes a TV series would be cool, but being loved respected and noticed is what we crave.

Just off to We Love Comedy to give them a bit of the Modern Man. God help us all.

More later Moz fans.
